86% of B2Bs use Outbound; only 34% use Event-Led growth
We surveyed B2B companies about which of the 7 Go-to-Market motions they use and how they use them
Happy Memorial Day to those of you in the U.S.!
We hope you’re enjoying some time off, but this newsletter comes out every Monday, holidays and all.
So dig in for some hot-off-the-press research on how B2B companies go to market while you sit by the pool.
Our research has identified seven core approaches for bringing products and services to the market.
We call them the 7 Go-to-Market (GTM) Motions.
Each of these approaches requires its own strategy and investment to ensure efficient growth.
Most companies are leveraging more than one type at a time.
For nearly a year, we’ve been asking companies which GTM Motions they use and how.
First, a refresher on the 7 Motions themselves:
What GTM Motions are most common?
We've asked dozens of companies what GTM Motions they put the most strategic effort into.
Outbound and Inbound are by far the most commonly-used motions (86% each), while only 34% of companies are using Event-Led growth and only 38% use Product-Led growth.
If you’d like to download the full report (it’s free, as is all of our research), you’ll see a table on page 7 with 25 named companies (like Siemens, Snowflake, and Twilio) and which motions they use.
Then on pages 8-12, we share more detail on how specific companies have structured their GTM motions.
We have had 40+ companies present their GTM tech stacks and show which of the 7 motions they use and which of the 15 GTM problems they have. You can see all the individual Tech Stacks on our website.
We’ve also got a helpful framework to help you decide when you need a new GTM motion.
Help us update our Economic Impact Report!
Last fall, GTM Partners surveyed hundreds of GTM leaders about how economic conditions were impacting their efforts.
Since our last study, a few start-up banks have failed, the market has changed, and lots of layoffs have happened. It’s time to update our numbers!
We would be most appreciative if you would take 3 minutes to complete this short survey.

Been thinking a lot about where a Podcasting Led GTM campaign fits into this model? There is an aspect of Outbound to it. It's a strong ABM program for sure!
Surprised how many claimed to be doing ecosystem marketing - that's at least twice what I thought I'd see there.
