Leverage generative AI to transform your GTM strategy
Interest in ChatGPT has grown 9900% in 8 months. How can you leverage generative AI in your tech stack or in your own products?
It’s clear that ChatGPT has taken the world by storm and ignited our imagination, as leaders think through how generative AI can transform GTM functions (marketing, sales, product, and customer success).
We have pulled together experts on generative AI and GTM for a virtual leadership summit on July 27.
We’ll go into the details further down, but always like to have a CTA early in the post. (We know you get it!)
CEOs and leadership teams at the world’s biggest companies have made harnessing the power of generative AI a top priority to improve the efficiency, productivity, and execution of their GTM strategies.
Nearly every GTM technology vendor our analysts talk to is building generative AI into existing products and/or creating new products.
There are very real concerns and endless think pieces on its implications on society and work, but amongst GTM leaders, there is perhaps even more concern about getting left behind for not embracing it full tilt.
AI is Not New, but Generative AI is Transformational
When we look at search trends, we can see that even 20 years ago there was interest in AI. But that interest never really went anywhere, even dipping from 2008 to 2016 as the promises failed to deliver.
In 2016, interest in machine learning and chatbots started to pick up, but look what happens to interest in chatbots when ChatGPT enters the scene in late 2022.
The previous chart shows interest in AI, machine learning, and chatbots. But look what happens when we add interest in ChatGPT to the graph. It makes it look like the prior twenty years of interest is negligible.
In fact, interest in ChatGPT is up 9900% since December 2022!
The Role of Generative AI in Go-to-Market
What started as AI writing assistance software and prompt screens will soon be fused into literally thousands of use cases across the GTM tech stack.
This is by no means an exhaustive list, but here are several areas where we see generative AI having an immediate impact on GTM functions:
Marketing
Lead Gen and Qualification: By integrating generative AI into lead generation processes, companies can engage with potential customers, qualify leads, and gather relevant information. Companies are already using generative AI to have interactive conversations, assess customer needs, and determine who is a good fit for the company's products or services.
Market Research and Competitive Analysis: Generative AI can assist in conducting market research by collecting data and opinions from customers, analyzing trends, and providing insights.
Content Generation: Perhaps the most commonly used application, generative AI can be used to create blog posts, articles, whitepapers, and case studies. It can generate drafts, proofread content, and provide topic suggestions, easing the content creation process for marketing teams.
Localization and Translation: With its ability to comprehend and generate text in multiple languages, generative AI can facilitate communication with international customers. It can assist in localization efforts by providing translations, ensuring consistent messaging across different markets.
Sales
Sales Enablement: ChatGPT can act as a virtual sales assistant, providing sales representatives with real-time information, product details, pricing, and objection handling techniques.
Customized Content: Generative AI can customize sales pitches, responding to common customer inquiries, and offer relevant suggestions.
Pricing and Quoting: Generative AI can assist sales teams in generating accurate pricing quotes for prospects based on various factors such as product configuration, volume discounts, and contract terms.
Upselling: By analyzing customer data and interaction history, AI can generate recommendations for additional products or services that align with the customer's needs, improving retention and expansion deals.
Sales Training and Coaching: Generative AI can be used to create interactive sales training modules and simulations. It can provide realistic scenarios for sales reps to practice their skills, offer feedback and coaching, and continuously improve their sales techniques and strategies.
Customer Success
Customer Support and Service: ChatGPT can be employed as a virtual customer support representative, capable of understanding and responding to customer queries and issues. It can provide instant and accurate responses, improving response times and customer satisfaction.
Training and Onboarding: ChatGPT can play a role in the customer training and onboarding processes. It can provide interactive simulations, answer frequently asked questions, and guide new employees through various procedures, making the onboarding experience more efficient and effective.
Product Team
Product Recommendations: Generative AI can leverage its understanding of customer preferences and behaviors to deliver personalized product recommendations. By analyzing customer data, it can suggest relevant offerings, cross-sell or upsell opportunities, and enhance the overall customer experience.
Competitive Analysis: Generative AI can also monitor competitors, analyze their strategies, and generate reports to aid in decision-making and staying ahead in the market.
